Christopher Rommel Scholarship
May 21, 1998 to February 14, 2015
Christopher was an amazing athlete, honor student, and friend to everyone he met. He always had a smile or words of encouragement to brighten everyone’s day. Although we all wish to have Christopher back, we can be grateful that his legacy lives on in the Christopher Rommel Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student at New Foundations Charter School in Philadelphia who exhibits the qualities of academics, athletics and community that Chris was so passionate about.
“It can’t rain all the time,” is from Christopher’s favorite movie, the Crow. It means things can’t always be bad. The passing of Chris is hard on everyone who knew him, but we need to remember all of the things Christopher accomplished and the ways that he left his mark during his own life and still is. The Christopher Rommel Scholarship Fund reminds us of Christopher’s values – high standard of academics / ethical sportsmanship / community involvement.
The major funding for the scholarship comes from the Annual 5k run/walk at Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem, PA each May. Help us grow the scholarship by participating in the 5k run / 1 mile walk on May 17th, 2020. All proceeds from the 5k run benefit the Christopher Rommel Scholarship Fund. The Christoper Rommel 5k Run / 1 Mile Walk is more than a Run/Walk, it’s a day of celebration and remembrance. A day we can all celebrate our friends/family and remember those who we lost. In addition to the 5k run / 1 Mile Walk, we will also have a timed run for the youth, games, BBQ (hamburger/hot dogs), homemade desserts, kid activities — something for everyone to do! Don’t forget to register for this fun filled day. Adult tickets are $25.00 and Youth tickets are $15.00 till May 10th. T-shirts are guaranteed till March 31st, afterwards we will make out best effort to accommodate.

Christopher also gave his ultimate gift of his organs/corneas. This last gift will give the profound gift of life and sight to multiple individuals.
